About Me
Just trying to make the world a little brighter and suck a little less
Hi there! I’m a UX Designer located in the Bay Area, CA. With degrees in psychology and cognitive science, I strive to connect with people and understand them. I hate small talk; I want to dig deeper. In my undergrad years I took a Human Memory class in which I was hired to be an academic notetaker. For every lecture, I listened closely to the professor as he explained the lecture slides with more context with explanations and examples. I uploaded these organized and annotated lecture notes to a cloud service twice a week. You can count on me to deliver timely detailed work.
As someone with a nonverbal autistic sibling, I realize the importance and impact of understanding and putting aside one’s own thoughts and biases. My sibling, Claudia, cannot do certain tasks on her own, nor can she ever be left alone. Her writing level is limited, and flashcards/communication apps are only as helpful as she uses them. Unfortunately, she doesn’t. I’m sure she’s just as frustrated as us, if not more, because she can never tell us exactly what’s on her mind. I practice empathy with Claudia and her struggles with communication. Empathy is a skill: it’s not a matter of whether you are empathetic or not. It takes time to improve on. Every time I feel like I’m being pushed to my limit, I remind myself of her limitations and take a step back.
In my free time, you can find me baking cookies, drinking boba milk tea (I swear I’m not addicted), or listening to music. One of my favorite genres is post-hardcore/screamo. May I recommend this song? Yes, I really do listen to this kind of music. It always surprises people. I care a lot about my favorite bands and won’t shut up about them. Ask me who they are! Maybe you like them too. Or maybe you hate them and feel compelled to tell me all about how my music taste sucks. I’m always open for a conversation: whether it’s about my design thinking process and strengths or what’s my go-to milk tea order.
